Any advice on what to look for when buying a stethoscope? Can you recommend a particular brand of stethoscope?

from what I was taught at school you want to try one that has a fat pipe in sted of real thin because the meager take longer for the vibration of the sound to travel through
My Littmann Cardiology III as he served well for 12 years. With stethoscopes what you get paid. $ 40 for those below are cheap and you have hearing difficulties - evitili. You should also remain from those with two separate tubes that shining face to face and will cause interference noise. (The flow of Littmann cardiology have two grooves in the pipe - that 's the ENDORSES) Also, are you high or short? If you 're get high with a long pipe or you' ll be the support is to your patient 's turn to listen to them. If you 're on the glass tubing longer be a distraction. Something in the range $ 70-120 should be fine for you. Another reason that Gradica Littmann is that they have a great program for reconditioning. What consumes about a stethoscope is the rubber tubing - and then send them back to them and they 'll clean up and replace the piping for a reasonable fee for service.
Agree with Sean, of Littman cardiology? equality? aurea for stethoscopes. Pi? get a nice little CD with examples of auscultatory patterns of many cardiac diseases.
