Fetal Heartbeat high (diagram) or low (bell) frequency with Stethoscope?

We just wanted to know if we use the side of the diagram (which sounds high frequency) or the side of the bell (which takes the low-frequency sounds). my doctor said that part of the bell, but my BF and I have tried using our beginning as 5 months … (im 38 weeks now) and we could not ever hear the heartbeat. only small movements
